Kalam arrives
in Trivandrum
Trivandrum, India, Jul. 9 2002 (INS News) -- The
National Democratic Allianc nominee for the constitutionally
highest office of India, President, Dr A P J Abdul
Kalam arrived in Trivandrum, Capital city of the
state of Kerala, on Monday for one day visit to
the city.
The Keral state Ministers , G Karthikeyan,for Cultural
affairs, Nalakkath Soopy, Minister for Education
,leaders from the Congress and Bharatia Janata Party,
G Madhavan Nair, Director, ,Vikram Sarabhai Space
Centre (VSSC) were among those who received him
at the airport.
Dr
Kalam's main programme in the city is to participate
in a function at the VSSC premises for the unveiling
of a bust of the late Dr Vikram Sarabhai. The bust
is to be unveiled by Mrinalini Sarabhai, widow of
the late scientist.
Kalam
is also scheduled to visit a development centre
for the Mentally Retarded in the Trivandrum city
before leaving for Madurai by road.
